Jan 05, 2010 Vancouver, BC - January 5, 2010 - (TSXV: LIT). Salares Lithium Inc. (the "Company"), is pleased to report that it has significantly increased the size of its 'Salares 7' project in Region III, Chile by acquiring, through staking of concessions, an additional 57,200 hectares. The project area is now 96,604 hectares (966 square kilometres), which is more than double the original core salare (brine lake) concession holdings, that are prospective for sub-surface lithium and potassium, of 39,404 hectares (394 square kilometers). The newly staked 572 square kilometer land package is comprised of concessions that strategically cover flat land that adjoins and/or connects specific salares. As a consequence of this cost-effective acquisition through staking, the Company, in association with its Chilean partner, not only controls one-hundred percent (100%) of five actual brine lakes but also the sufficient ground around and between the salares to be able to comfortably complete any required development and production infrastructure including space for the potential construction of solar evaporation ponds and of a lithium-potash plant. From an exploration perspective, these areas will allow for additional technical drilling and geophysical assessment activities for basin-wide hydro-geological modeling. By virtue of the 100% ownership, this strategic staking enables the Company to advance towards possible development within the project area unencumbered by competing parties. The 'Salares 7' project is well situated with access to the nearby town of Diego de Almagro, which in turn is connected by a paved highway to Copiapo, the main mining town of the mineral prolific Region III. Salares Lithium Inc.: Salares Lithium Inc. is a lithium explorer in Chile that controls the 'Salares 7' lithium project made up of seven salares (brine lakes) and the surrounding concessions in Region III, Chile. Five of the seven salares are clustered within 200 square kilometers and are 100% owned by the Company and its Chilean partner.
